Render / Railway / Heroku / Fly.io - ship-fast hosting. Fine for a hosted monolith when you don't need data ownership in your AWS account or full control of observability, security, and compliance. Painful to leave once the data and runtime live there.

Drata / Secureframe - same category as Vanta. Backbone implements the controls they observe. Compliance guide maps what ships. Attestation is still an org process - not a reason to bolt on another vendor by default.

AWS-native assembly (Cognito + ECS + CDK + Actions) - strong parts; glue and decision debt are yours.

Consultancies / SIs - DIY with a bigger invoice.

Honest caveats

  • Not a GRC monitor like Vanta. We ship the technical baseline (identity, audit, edge, secrets, observability, evidence) - mapped in the control-coverage matrix. Formal attestation is still on you.
  • Not a PaaS. Render / Railway / Heroku are fine when a hosted monolith is enough and you don't need data ownership in your AWS account or full control of observability, security, and compliance. If you might, starting there usually costs more when migrating later than two years of licence.
  • Not an IDP portal. We are the foundation a platform team would otherwise build.
  • Greenfield-first. But legacy platform migration or consolidation is also a valid use case, with a deliberate migration plan.
